Aspirational Districts Programme

MASS is a partner in the Mission Sunehra Kal Programme, implemented in collaboration with ITC Ltd. and anchored by NITI Aayog. The project focuses on enhancing agricultural productivity across 27 aspirational districts in India. Its objectives include increasing farmers’ net returns, promoting sustainable farming practices and strengthening the capacity of government extension staff. Key components of the initiative are demonstration farms, cascading training models and seasonal planning, all designed to foster inclusive and resilient agricultural growth.

Sustainable Livelihood Enhancement

The Secours Catholique/Caritas France supports this project in Bargarh and Sambalpur to enhance rural income and nutrition among tribal and marginalised communities. By strengthening institutions such as Farmers’ Clubs, SHGs and Forest Committees, it promotes sustainable resource management, agriculture and forest conservation. Demonstration plots encourage crop diversification with organic inputs, while diversified livelihoods provide safety nets. Capacity building, technical collaborations, MGNREGA linkages and entrepreneurship reduce vulnerability. Recognised by district authorities, the initiative advances climate‑smart, inclusive agricultural growth.

Natural Resource Management

MASS promotes sustainable natural resource management to empower rural communities and ensure ecological balance. Its initiatives include watershed development with 90 farm ponds supporting fish cultivation, soil restoration and improved water use, alongside community‑led forest protection, afforestation and biodiversity conservation. Appointed as the Nodal Agency for Bargarh district, MASS facilitated and supervised the Mo Jungle Jami Yojana in coordination with government officials, advancing sustainable agriculture, forest conservation and climate‑resilient livelihoods for marginalised households.

Crop Diversification Programme

The Crop Diversification Programme under the Mega‑Lift Irrigation Project is strengthening farmer mobilisation, crop diversification and community empowerment in five villages of the organisation’s operational area. Through targeted interventions, training and knowledge sharing, the initiative promotes sustainable farming and ecological balance while enhancing food security and financial stability. Progress includes expanding crop coverage, empowering community‑based organizations and fostering resilience, laying a strong foundation for long‑term agricultural growth and rural development.
